Anybody who has been to the store has probably seen evidence that your host is an avid fan of Crystal Palace football club. When I was just a little boy my grandad used to take me along to Selhurst Park in south east London to watch Palace play. They used to be called "the Glaziers" then but later became known as "the Eagles". Johnny Byrne and Dennis Uphill were on the team and Palace spent most of their time in the old Third Division. Now, Crystal Palace is vying for promotion to the Premiership again. Why is that important to Blighty's Tuck Store? Well it isn't but it makes me very happy. Last weekend Crystal Palace played Watford. Watford scored three goals and Palace scored one, but the Eagles won the game 3-1. Unofficial reports of the mysterious disappearance of two Watford players following the game have yet to be confirmed.
DVD Players
If you have been holding off buying one of our International DVD Players at the store until the Christmas bills were paid off, you may have to wait a little longer. All the Comtronics models that were on sale at $69.95 have now been sold. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. A few discrete phone calls have uncovered a new batch of International DVD players that should be in stock in two weeks for the same price.
International DVD players will automatically convert British PAL TV format to Canadian NTSC format and ignore any region code restrictions. We'll be stocking a lot more DVDs in the coming months too.
Those Drips from England Again
Aaaarrrggh! The roof leak is back. The roofers have been called, but until they can fix the problem once and for all I have to ask for your understanding. The problem is at the front of the store so you may feel drips on the old bonce if you stand near the door.
Altoids
Blighty's now carries that famous confection from England called Altoids. We have several flavours including peppermint, spearmint, liquorice, ginger and cinnamon. According to the literature, a single serving of Altoids (3 pieces) contains only 10 calories and contributes zero percent of the recommended daily fat intake. That means you can enjoy a bar of Cadburys with your "Curiously Strong Mints".
"Up the Palace" we used to shout from the terraces in SE25. Ah! life was more civilized in the good old days when English football teams actually employed English football players.
