Toad in the Hole

Toad here; Toad of Toad Hall, aka Blighty's. You wouldn't have imagined I would recommend a dish like "Toad in the Hole" to you, would you? As it happens, there's no toad in Toad in the Hole. Oh yes, the French eats frogs, but the British? No, sir.

Toad in the Hole is the kind of dinner that is good for one of those days when you can eat your fill then relax in an armchair and snooze. Its economical too. Pop down to Toad Hall and pick up these items:
One package of Colman's Toad in the Hole batter mix and one pack of Mrs Bridges British Bakery beef link sausages. Those items will cost only about seven or eight dollars. You'll also need an egg, some cooking oil and a coffee mug full of cold water.

To prepare my favourite dinner start by undercooking the sausages in a frying pan. When they start to sizzle, lay them in a medium baking tray and set it to one side for a moment. Now mix up the contents of the Colman's Toad in the Hole batter mix with an egg and the cold water then whisk until smooth. Pour the mix over the sausages and bake in the oven at 425 degF for about 25 minutes.

Serve Toad in the Hole as soon as it comes out of the oven. It tastes even better if served with lashings of gravy made with Bisto instant gravy granules (which you can also get down here at Toad Hall). Enjoy!
