Clearance Discounts

I would like to thank all our wonderful customers for making the Christmas shopping season a tremendous success at Blighty's Tuck Store. We stocked up with far more inventory than last year and you responded by coming into our sometimes crowded store in record numbers. Thank you once again. I hope you and your family had a very merry Christmas and I wish you a prosperous and safe new year too.

A small quantity of our Christmas stock was left over when we closed the doors for the holiday. I am pleased to announce that you can take advantage of this by saving quite a bit of money while stock lasts. The following products have been discounted to clear surplus inventory:

Mr Kipling Battenberg!!!

Things are pretty crazy here at the store in the final run-up to Christmas. We even opened the doors on our regular restocking day today without any prior announcement and still the customers poured in.

Well, if the last week of pre-Christmas shopping isn't enough to get you in here - or if you thought you had already finished your shopping - here's a reason to pop-in just one more time. Blighty's has Mr Kipling Battenberg cake on the shelves!

If only I could get Mr Kipling Battenberg all year round - so many customers ask for it - but alas, it's here only until Christmas. You'll find it at Blighty's priced at only $5.99 while stocks last (which won't be long!).

Brits Abroad

The BBC carried an interesting news item today about British born people living overseas. We may think Canada has a lot of us Brits but, in fact, we rank quite low on the scale for choice of emigration destinations.

Australia ranks top with 1.3 million Brits. Spain is second with over three quarters of a million, followed by the USA with 678,000. Canada ranks fourth with just over six hundred thousand.

Could it be that our fellow Brits are choosing sunny destinations over snowy Canada?

Five Flake Flavours!

We have some special deals for our customers this Christmas. One of the best surprises is the special price on Jacob's Orange Club biscuits. We have been selling 8-packs of Jacob's Club Orange for $5.89. Until Christmas, packs dated best before 21st January 2007 are priced at only $3.99!

Forget Flakey, Fake, Flakes
"I favour five Flake flavours over flakey, fake Flakes." Practice saying that now because it may be harder to say after a couple of sherries and a bowl of Christmas pud laced with brandy sauce on Christmas Day.

Yes it's true. The local flakey, fake Flakes only come in one unpalatable ersatz chocolate candy flavour. Great British Flakes now come in five genuinely delicious flavours:
  1. The Original genuine Cadbury's Dairy Milk Chocolate Flakes
  2. Cadbury's Dairy Milk Chocolate Dipped Flakes
  3. Cadbury's white chocolate Snowflakes (dipped in Cadbury's Dairy Milk Chocolate)
  4. Cadbury's Dark Chocolate Flakes
  5. Cadbury's Praline Flakes
Galaxy Hot Chocolate Drink Special
Are you a fan of creamy Galaxy chocolate? If you are, you might want to try Galaxy Hot Drinking Chocolate. This product comes in a uniquely unusual package. Inside each sealed pack you'll find 10 plastic cups pre-loaded with Galaxy chocolate drink. Simply separate the cups and fill with hot water. What an ideal way of serving winter warmer cuppas to the kids, or guests at your Christmas party! Blighty's has Galaxy Chocolate drinks on Christmas special for only $1.99 for a pack of ten.

Jaffa Cakes Special

We seem to be able to put on a special deal with Jaffa Cakes every Christmas. Last year we had yard long packages which sold out in no time at all. This year I have been able to purchase several cases of Jaffa Cakes in special tubes of 15 cakes each. Those who love Jaffa Cakes will be thrilled to hear the price too. Blighty's is selling them for only $1.99 a tube! Our regular price is $4.99 for a carton of 12 Jaffa Cakes so this really is a very special deal. They are dated "Best Before 17 Feb 2007" so you have plenty of time to enjoy them, but don't wait too long to buy them; when they are gone, they are gone.

Blimey, Cadbury's Chocolate Biscuits?
There is another new special product that popped onto our shelves today. It is Cadbury Bournville digestive biscuits. Yes, biscuits bearing the real Cadbury brand name! This may be another special treat that we can't repeat so grab them while you can.

Selection Packs Sold Out
Blighty's selection box mountain is eroding very quickly now. Soon medium selection boxes will be very scarce indeed. The lower priced selection packs are already completely sold out - that's the milk chocolate and white chocolate varieties. You can still find the Nestle Football packs and Cadbury stockings, but they are selling quickly too .

Chocolate Diet Size Chocolate Bars
If, like me, you have a serious chocolate addiction we have specially sized bars for you. Choose from Cadbury Dairy Milk, Caramel, Turkish, Fruit and Nut or Whole Nut in 250g bars or Dairy Milk, Fruit and Nut or Whole Nut in whopping 400g bars!

Stocking Stuffers
There are lots of calorie-laden (who cares, it's Christmas!) treats here for filling up those Christmas stockings. In fact, we're having to be creative with our product displays to fit it all into the store.

Sunday Opening

ANNOUNCEMENT
Blighty's will open between 12 noon and 4:00pm starting December 3rd until December 24th to provide customers a little extra time to pickup Christmas holiday items. Blighty's is full to the gunnels with great Christmas fare so we hope to see you here soon!

Superunhealthymarket Food

A study published in the UK today, by the National Consumer Council, reveals that food shoppers whose buying decisions are based solely on price may be eating unhealthy food. Britain's major supermarket chains promote bulk and generic brands at super low prices for unhealthy, low nutritional value food. In contrast, price promotions are rarely offered on their better brands which provide better nutritional value.

NCC Chair Lord Larry Whitty said: "Consumers who rely heavily on economy ranges are clearly being short-changed on health."

Here in Canada you will find only the best brands represented on Blighty's shelves. If you are a particularly discerning shopper who is concerned about health, try our Duchy Originals brand of organic British foods. No chemicals, no genetically modified ingredients, just good British food.
