You can't hide the truth from some people. One of our regulars walked into the store the other day and asked "where are you moving to?". "Who said we are moving?" I asked. "Well your blog said there is going to be a major announcement" she said.
Of course, she was right. Blighty's Tuck Store is moving. We started this business in July 2005 in our present modest location. Early signs were encouraging as people poured into the store during those early months. As time wore on it became increasingly clear that we were eventually going to need more space and a better location. That time has now come already.
Blighty's Tuck Store will relocate to 88 First Street on May 1st. The new store is in the Staples Plaza; it will be more than twice the size of the present store and it will be all on one level - no more climbing stairs to get to the gift department.
I have really enjoyed operating the business out of the Broadway location. I love the layout of this store and I really like the downtown location. However, if we are to continue growing this business we need to move on. I hope you will all join us at the new location where, in addition to more space we will be adding some exciting new features. I won't spill all the beans now but I promise it will be worthwhile to pop-in and see us on First Street starting in May.
Meanwhile back at the old ranch, this store is for sale for a very reasonable price. If you, or somebody you know, is interested in starting a small business, please talk to your real estate agent.
