The original London street rebel is one of the world`s best known rock musicians and, yesterday, Saturday 26th July 2008, he turned 65 and became a British old-age pensioner. Mick may sing like a street rebel but his background is surprisingly more up market. He was born into a middle class family. His father and grandfather were both teachers and his mother was active in the British Conservative Party.

Mick excelled at grammar school, earning 3 A-levels before enrolling at the London School of Economics to study accounting. However, after just one year he left to pursue a career in music. The world knows the rest of the story.
