Catching up on Corrie Episodes

There is one question that pops up all the time on Blighty's website's (www.blightys.com) feedback forms and that is: "Where can I download Coronation Street episodes that I have missed?"

OK folks, I have good news, bad news and then some more good news. Confused? Let me explain. First, the kind folks at ITV in the UK have made episodes of Coronation Street available on their website at www.itv.com/corrie. But wait. Before you go rushing off to their website, there is something else you need to know. ITV's "catch-up" service is only available to UK residents! That's the bad news.

And now for the second bit of good news; there is a service available that will allow you to appear to be in the UK. A company called UKTVabroad (www.uktvabroad) will provide you with a VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection through which you can connect to ITV.com and download Coronation Street episodes to watch at your leisure. There is a fee for the service but it is very affordable.

There is another option available but you have to be a bit of a computer geek to use it. A peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing service called Bit Torrent enables you to download episodes of Coronation Street that you can watch on your computer. It works, but you won't always find the episode that you missed.

Of course, if you just need to know what happened, without actually watching the show, you can always read the episode summaries at www.corrie.net or www.corrieblog.tv.
