Finally, they're back! It's been a long famine. The last batch of delicious McWhinney's pork sausages expired in June and we've waited a long time for a fresh batch to arrive. Now they are here and we have laid in a good stock of them. For anybody who isn't familiar with this product I'll paint a brief picture to explain. All meat products from the UK are banned in Canada. Canada Food Inspection Agency wishes to protect Canadians from Mad Cow Disease coming from Britain. Canada also has Mad Cow Disease but CFIA apparently hasn't seen the failure in logic arising from protecting Canadians from something we already have.
That isn't the only thing CFIA hasn't seen recently. Many more people died during recent weeks due to a domestic Listeria outbreak than have ever died in Britain from the human variant of Mad Cow Disease. [John steps down from his soapbox]
Fortunately there is one exception to this meat product ban - McWhinney's Pork Sausages. McWhinney's is based in Northern Ireland; their sausages are frozen and shipped across to Canada. Unlike many similar products these great-tasting sausages are made from over 80% lean pork, lightly spiced in natural lamb casings.
Unfortunately we can't send these sausages to our many mail order customers (now in every province in Canada). However, for our personal shoppers - especially those who have been besieging our premises for the last several weeks waiting for their McWhinney's fix - happy days are here again.
