Would I lie to you?

A stunning tale of deception was revealed in the UK yesterday. A deception perpetrated on the nation's children no less. The dark secret was finally revealed to a shocked nation a full forty six years after it happened.

I was one of those children duped by a cruel and evil national broadcaster. My sense of trauma brought about by the terrible news has left me deeply disturbed.

I loved that dog. Each time I sat down after tea to watch Blue Peter on the old steam-powered black and white telly, I looked forward with great anticipation to seeing my favourite TV pooch; the beloved "Petra".

Now, nearly half a century later, the BBC has acknowledged that the gentle puppy revealed on the show just before Christmas 1962 actually died of distemper after a single broadcast and was replaced with a neurotic ragamuffin mongrel from the local pet shop! The awful truth was let out of the bag during a TV show called "Would I lie to you?
