On Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19 Blighty’s will celebrate St.George’s Day at the PawsWay Discovery Centre, the world’s first canine educational centre, at Harbourfront in Toronto. And it’s free to the public!!
PawsWay is featuring all the English breeds of dogs, and also providing some fantastic musical entertainment. So you can enjoy all your favourite Blighty items and have music to boot!
There are more breeds of dogs that were developed in England than in any other country of the world. The English became the world’s premier breeders; even Queen Victoria kept a renowned kennel of show dogs. PawsWay will feature all the English Breeds, and experts will explain how the various breeds were developed to perform a specific function.
On Saturday, (April 18) the well known (and immensely funny!) English Music Hall star, London Bobby, will be your Master of Ceremonies. Sommerset, a talented group who plays antique musical instruments such as the Dulcimer will also entertain.
On Sunday, (April 19) London Bobby (he of the Pig and Whistle TV Show) will again M.C. and will be joined by a terrific Beatles tribute quartet, “Toby, Dawson and the Dandies”. In addition, the exciting Orange Peel Morris Dancers will get the toes tapping.
PawsWay is not only “dog friendly” (feel free to bring your favourite pooch) but it houses Toronto’s only canine friendly cafĂ©, Williams Coffee Pub. PawsWay is also the home of the renowned Purina Hall of Fame.
So come down and meet the English breeds such as the Airedale Terrier, Beagle, Bedlington Terrier, Bloodhound, Border Terrier, Bull Terrier, English Bulldog, Bullmastiff, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, English Toy Spaniel, Smooth and Wire Fox Terrier, English Foxhound, Greyhound, Harrier, Lakeland Terrier, Toy and Standard Manchester Terriers, Mastiff, Norfolk and Norwich Terriers, Old English Sheepdog, Otterhound, Parson Russell Terrier, English Pointer, Pug, Curley Coated and Flat Coated Retrievers, English Setter, Clumber, Field, Sussex, English Springer and English Cocker Spaniels, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Whippet, and Yorkshire Terrier. (Whew! That’s allota dogs! And they’re all friendly!)
Pawsway opens at 11 a.m. on both Saturday and Sundays. Programming is completed at 6 p.m. on Saturdays and at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
PawsWay is located at 245 Queens Quay West, the next building west of Harbourfront Centre.
And remember, PawsWay is not just “dog friendly”, it’s free to the public!!
