Post Christmas Clearout

Well I finally found a few moments to sit down and post an update to the blog. The Christmas shopping season was a wild ride and I would like to thank everybody who came into Blighty's and helped to make this season our best yet. Things are settling back down to normal again now and once again, our team of Pat, Samantha and myself will have the chance to make time for a brief chat with customers without holding up the lineups.

We stocked up with lots of extra groceries and candies for the Christmas shopping season and fortunately supplies held up on most products to get us through the busiest times. We have a few seasonal items left over and customers have the chance to pick up some bargains as a result. Here is a partial list:

  • Cadbury medium and large selection boxes at half price
  • Nestle selection boxes at half price
  • Party snack canisters (Cheeselets, Cheese Footballs etc) reduced to $2.00
  • After Eight candies (milk and dark chocolate) reduced to $2.99
  • Christmas Puddings (individual and family size) at half price
  • Mars Mighty Minis (miniature candy bars) jars at half price

More items will be coming on sale over the next few days, keep reading the blog for details or, better yet, come on into the store!

Peace In Our Time
Blimey, it's been busy! For the first time in a couple of weeks I have had a chance to sit down and blog. So much has been happening at the Orangeville Embassy that I hardly know where to start.

I should probably begin with dire tidings for last minute Christmas shoppers. We have been overwhelmed with eagre Yuletide shoppers since the onset of December. Despite a constant relay of British goodies between Pugwash's establishment in the big city 'burbs and our shelves, we have already exhausted our inventory of some items. A large number of giant 900g M&S Christmas puddings are sitting in the larders of Orangevilleins awaiting adornment with brandy sauce on big nosh day. The last one left our doors at the weekend and I am sad to report that there will be no more this year. You can still pick up the smaller individual size M&S Xmas Puds in either the standard or luxury recipes while stocks last. Our fully iced M&S Christmas cakes are likewise depleted to extinction for this year, but if you hurry you can still manage to get the Top Iced variety for maybe a few more days.

Selection box inventories will hold up for but a few more days too. Every year at least one eagre shopper pops into the store on Christmas Eve optimistically expecting to find some still on the shelves and leaves disappointed.

"the BRITISH canadian"
There is a highly recommended new publication available for expat Brits in Canada. It is a free newspaper filled with news and stories of interest to people from Britain. This month's edition is a "must read" mainly because it contains a half page ad for Blighty's - but of course you are welcome to read the other pages too - if you really must ;-)

Coronation Street Special Magazine
Great tidings of great joy bring I to all fans of Coronation Street. I have received word from the publishers of "TV Today - Coronation Street Special" magazine that the much anticipated 2008 edition scheduled to hit newsstands in March may be available early in the new year instead. Despite stocking hundreds of copies of the 2007 edition, I still sold out. So, this year I have bought several thousand copies - in fact I have bought the entire Canadian production run of the magazine. Call or email (shop@blightys.com) if you would like to be among the privileged elite who will be notified as soon as the magazine is available.

Oh well, its time for me to (if you'll excuse the expression) blog off again; the store is once again filling with customers. Merry Christmas to all.
